Usage of the I-2 linear accelerator in applied studies

Applied utilization is described of I-2 linear accelerator - ITEF proton synchrotron injector. One of the pulses of the linear accelerator is used for synchrotron injection, the other ones, for applied studies and measurements. The beam with 22.5 MeV energy, maximum pulse current of 100 ma and average beam current of 1 ma is led out along the transportation channel into the atmosphere through an outlet window closed with a 0.5 mm - thick aluminium foil. Some operations on radiation chemistry are performed on the led-out beam. As a result it has been ascertained that utilization efficiency of the I-2 accelerator has grown and a higher pulse repetition frequency has not affected reliability of accelerator units and systems
