Description
Bond energies and entropies were measured for the gas-phase hydration of Cl- and I- using high-pressure mass spectrometry. The results agree with literature values for all except the first step. The present values for the formation of the first hydration complex are consistent with predictions of an electrostatic model. (orig.)
