International Conference on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management. Presentations

Description

The International Conference on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management was held in Vienna, Austria, from 21 until 25 of November 2016. The purpose of the conference was to highlight the importance of an integrated long term approach towards the management of radioactive waste and spent fuel, to foster information exchange between Member States, and to provide inputs that will promote further harmonization of safety in the fields of pre disposal management and disposal of radioactive waste. The conference served as a forum for discussing past experiences and future challenges. Furthermore, it sought to identify Member States' needs in order to assist them — through specific activities under future IAEA programmes in this area — to develop and implement safe solutions for the management of their entire radioactive waste inventory.
