600 GeV accelerating storage complex

Description

It is decided to transport the 400 GeV storage ring (UNK-1) earlier designed as a booster for the 3 TeV superconducting UNK, in an independent 600 GeV UNK (U-600) with a possibility to extract the accelerating beam into an experimental area. In the paper are described the U-600 tunnel construction, equipment testing and simulation. The U-600 construction time schedule is given. The beginning of physical investigations is planned in 1998
