  • 1. Atomic Energy Commission of Syria, Damascus (Syrian Arab Republic)

Description

Climate change is one of the most important environmental challenges facing the humanity today. Nuclear power plants produce virtually no green house gas emissions or air pollutants during their operation; it makes a significant contribution to facing climate changes and fosters energy supply security and industrial development by providing electricity reliably. Nuclear power provides affordable, reliable and clean energy which is crucial for achieving sustainable development goals. Though, there are concerns about its environmental impacts, and the challenges in financing the up front construction costs. (author)
