Engineering management assessment of calculations

Description

CH2M HILL Hanford Group, Inc. (CH2M HILL) operates the Hanford waste tank farm facilities for the Department of Energy (DOE). This includes providing the engineering program for the tank farm facilities including Waste Feed Delivery to the Waste Vitrification Plant and Closure of the single shell waste tanks. The assessment was a scheduled engineering management assessment of the calculation process and was conducted by CH2M HILL engineering personnel in May 2003 in accordance with the Management Assessment Procedure. The assessment included reviews of calculation documents, interviews to ascertain where the calculation procedure and related processes can be improved, and review of Problem Evaluation Reports (PERS). The assessment did not include assessment of field activities. The purpose of this Engineering Management Assessment is to determine if calculations prepared by and for CH2M demonstrate technical rigor and comply with the governing procedures. This assessment also identifies weaknesses and identifies opportunities for improvement
