The development of ductility in beryllium

Description

The reasons for the recent improvements in the isotropic ductility of beryllium are discussed. In hot pressed products a fine oxide particle size, a low volume fraction of oxide and a fine grain size are required. In cast products upset forging produces a refined non-textured grain structure in which grain boundary sliding and grain boundary fracture are observed together with an increase in ductility
