Light yield of scintillation by ion excitation of surface layers of PbWO4 single crystal in oriented and nonoriented positions

Description
Light emission from ion excitation of PbWO4 single crystal was investigated. It was found that luminescence was depressed by influence of He+ (E0=0,9 MeV) ions. In the case of light emission induced by hydrogen ions the amplitude and optical luminescence spectra were obtained both in randomly crystal position and in [001] direction of exciting ion beam. The dependence of light output on radiation dose was studied in disoriented crystals. 11 refs
