The Tau-Charm factory

The project to install a Tau-Charm factory in Spain is presented. The authors give a review of the political and scientifical reasons which moved to promote this project. Unfortunately the authors knew at the time the paper was being written that by Governmental decission the project was interrupted. The project consists of a double-ring electron-positron collider with a detector located at the place the collisions are taking place. Three fundamental components would be produced: tau lepton, tau neutrino and charm quark by means of electron-positron collisions. The experimental installation would consist of a linear accelerator(primary=0.2 GeV and pre-injector=0.4 GeV), a Synchrotron light source (2.5 GeV), a booster synchrotron (0.4-2.5 GeV), the double-ring collider (1.5-2.5 GeV) and the detector. The Tau-Charm factory is considered as highly beneficial for the Spanish industry and research community and a soon re-launch of the project is asked by the authors
