Deformation of a magnetic fluid droplet in electric and magnetic fields
Description
In the present work, phenomena were investigated which occur in a open-quotes magnetic fluid (ML) droplet--nonmagnetic mediumclose quotes system when electric and magnetic fields simultaneously act upon it. In this case, the following assumptions were introduced: the shape of the ML droplet was an ellipsoid of revolution both in the electric and magnetic fields, the electric and magnetic fields were uniform, and the surrounding medium was nonconducting. The authors considered two characteristic orientation cases for the intensity vectors of the electric and magnetic field. The developed methodology, algorithm, and programming made it possible to simulate the MF droplet behavior in electric and magnetic fields. The suitability of the algorithm was verified by a comparison with the results of computational and physical experiments. 3 refs., 1 fig., 1 tab
