Description

The Y1-xCaxSr2Cu2.8Mo0.1W0.1Oy (0≤x≤1) cuprates were investigated. Single-phase (123) samples were obtained for x=0 and 0.1 under various heat-treatment conditions, and it is found that the system undergoes a tetragonal(T(I))-orthorhombic(O)-tetragonal(T(II)) structural transition as the oxygen content y increases. The non-superconducting behaviour of the orthorhombic phase and the superconducting behaviour of the tetragonal II phase suggest that superconductivity in the Sr-based Y-123 system is insensitive to the orthorhombic order.
