On the role of nucleate boiling in power radiation interaction with a substance

Description

Investigations into the limits of applicability of a model of surface evaporation for the description of interaction of a substance (liquid metal) with power radiation are performed. Using aluminium as an example, a maximum flux density is calculated at which surface evaporation transits into pool boiling. It is shown that for correct calculation of the irradiation critical intensity it is necessary to take into account the nonequilibrium of evaporation and the effect of the bubble growth rate on its lifetime
