Description

Full text: The beta silver molybdate (β-Ag2MoO4) is a material with interesting applications, which include phosphors for white light-emitting diodes, photoluminescence, and photocatalytic properties [1]. Up to now, several synthesis methods of these material has been studied, however, these methods require much longer time or sophisticated equipment than the presented method. In this work, it was obtained the β-Ag2MoO4 via simple precipitation method at dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) as solvent in room temperature for 1 h employing sodium tungstate (Na2WO4) and silver nitrate (AgNO3) as reagents. The characterizations of the sample were made by X-ray diffraction (XRD), which show order at long distance and indicates that β-Ag2MoO4 has spinel-type cubic structure, Ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy (UV-VIS) exhibit a band gap of 3.4 eV and from Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FEG-SEM) was obtained the morphology of microcubes with about 1 μm. This morphology is related to the plane (001) which presents a surface energy of 2.7 J/m2. [1] Yang, et al. Chinese Journal of Catalysis 38 (2017) 260–269. (author)
