Numerical simulations of electron capture in low energy He+(1s) on Al(1 1 1) collisions
Creators
Description
In this work we present numerical results concerning the dynamics of electron capture during the interaction of a low energy He+(1s) beam with an Al(1 1 1) surface. The important role played by the transient population of excited states in the beam evolution is shown. This point is particularly relevant for multi-charged ions which can undergo multiple transitions involving excited states while interacting with metallic surfaces
