Description

In this article we use the Barr-Zee mechanism for generating the electric dipole moment de/e of the electron to impose an upper bound on the complex four Fermi term that appears in the high energy lagrangian of a composite two Higgs doublet model. We derive the most general, renormalizable, low energy effective lagrangian that arises from the high energy four Fermi lagrangian via the RG. Three unknown parameters appear in the (mass)2 matrix of the neutral scalars. Two of them, which are not responsible for CP violation, are chosen so that the unitarity limit of Weinberg is realized. The remaining unknown parameter is the only quantity that is responsibel for CP violation in this model and is constrained from above by the experimental upper bound on de/e. (orig.)
