The quench behaviour of small superconductive coils

  • 1. S.C.K./C.E.N., Mol (Belgium)

Description

Quench experiments have been carried out on small coils, wound with commercial NbTi multifilament wire. These superconductive coils are energized by a DC power supply in a mode that increases the sample current at a constant rate until the quench occurs. The data on the load line and the quench are taken by a data acquisition system at a moderate rate. The transient signals are recorded by a fast two-channel digital storage oscilloscope and registered afterwards by the data acquisition system. The analysis of these date yields the self-inductance of the coil, the quench parameters and the calorimetric behaviour
