Full text: The Earth is exposed to a very wide range of radiations from radio waves at one end of the spectrum to ultra high energy photons and particles of up to 1020 eV or more at the other extreme. This wide energy band of more than 30 orders of magnitude is utilized by astronomers to probe the secrets of the Cosmos. The talk will focus on the various types of radiation detectors used for ground and space based observations of the universe
