On the wave function of the nucleon
- 1. Institute of Nuclear Physics, Siberian Division, USSR Academy of Sciences
Description
By means of QCD sum rules we determine the values of the ten lowest moments of the nucleon wave function. The results unambiguously show a large asymmetry in the longitudinal momentum distribution of the three quarks in the nucleon (for p/sub z/ →∞). The u quark with its spin parallel to the spin of the nucleon carries about 60% of the total momentum, while the other two quarks carry each about 20%. We propose a simple model wave function of the nucleon, which satisfies the sum rules. We make a comparison with the results of previous work on this subject
