Investigation of the Am star 16 Ori by the method of a model atmosphere

Description

On the basis of model atmospheres of Kurucz, using spectrograms with the dispersion of 8 and 12 A/mm, the Am star 16 Ori belonging to the Hyades cluster have been analyzed. The following values of effective temperature, surface gravity and microturbulent velocity were obtained: Tsub(ef)=7900+-100 K, log g=4.35+-0.15, xisub(t)=6.0+-0.5 km/s. The abundances of 23 elements were found. Calcium and scandium are underabundant, while heavy elements show overabundance growing with the increase of the atomic weight. Chemical composition of the atmosphere of 16 Ori is compar:ed with the results of the model atmosphere analysis of two other Am stars, also belonging to the Hyades. A hotter Am star 68 Tau differs from 16 Ori in abundances of Ca, Sc, and heavy elements. On the other side the star 63 Tau (which was examined by Hundt) showing likeness in atmospheric parameters ha:s chemical composition close to that of 16 Ori. It was found that the abundances of elements or these three Am stars evaluated by Smith are systematically lowered. Mass, radius, luminocity and age of the star were found using evolutionary calculations
