Description
A complete particle-γ-ray angular correlation has been measured for the decay of the first 2+ state of 24Mg excited by 24Mg(200 MeV)+208Pb. The particle-γ-ray correlation, expressed as alignment tensors, proves to be particularly sensitive to the static quadrupole moment of the 21+ state. The derived value of the 21+ static quadrupole moment is Q2=(-29±3) efm2 which is (1.56±0.16) times larger than the rotational value
