Description
Results of a study of the response of CaS04:Dy and Li2B407:Mn as TLD materials to 210Po alpha particles are presented. No change in glow peak structure between alpha and gamma irradiations was observed for these materials. The stopping power ratios of CaS04:Dy and Li2B407:Mn to air were found to be 0.7 and 0.86 respectively for the average energies of the particles in traversing the sample. The TL responses of the materials to gamma rays and alpha particles as a function of dose in rads are shown from which it is seen that their alpha efficiency as compared with 60Co radiation is 29 and 37% respectively when comparisons are made at low doses where growth curves are linear functions of dose.
