Evidence for the formation of single crystals of sodium metal during the decomposition of sodium aluminum hydride: an electron microscopic study

Description

A variety of electron analytical techniques have been used to show that when sodium aluminum hydride crystals are examined inside an electron microscope, beam-induced decomposition results. Hydrogen is evolved and phase separation of sodium and aluminum occurs with the subsequent growth of small (approx. 10 μm) single crystals of metallic sodium. (Auth.)
