A simple method for surveying for the dose equivalent due to thermal and intermediate energy neutrons in a reactor environment
Description
A simple and rapid system for evaluating the dose equivalent due to neutrons with energies below about 10 keV is described. The proposed system consists of a thermal neutron detector which is exposed in turn bare and inside a 7.6 cm diameter spherical moderator. It is shown that the sum of the two responses is proportional to dose equivalent over the energy range thermal to 10 keV and falls to near zero for higher energies. (author)
