π- mesonic weak decay width of Λ12C

Description

We have measured the branching ratio of the π- mesonic weak decay and the weak decay lifetime of Λ12C with the use of the SKS spectrometer at KEK 12 GeV PS. The π- mesonic decay width (Γπ-) was derived and compared with theoretical calculations. The measured Γπ- is consistent with the theoretical calculation including the distortion effect of the pion wave function. (orig.)
