Complexes of boron and aluminium trichlorides with dicarboxylic esters
Description
The 1:1 adducts of boron (III) and aluminium (III) trichlorides with dicarboxylic esters have been prepared and characterized. Complexes of BCl3 are low melting and moisture sensitive while those of AlCl3 are more stable and less hygroscopic. Molar conductance and mol.wt. determinations suggest that the complexes indicate a strong bond formation by carbonyl oxygen of the diesters with the respective metal. BCl3 behaves as a better acceptor than AlCl3. TGA data indicate a loss of alkyl chloride at higher temperature from these adducts. (author)
