Effective dosimetry instead of effective dose

Many theoretical concepts concerning radiation protection quantities have been discussed during the past 20 years. Considering radiation protection dosimetry from a practical point of view, it is already a powerful tool which contributes to minimising exposure by prompting protective action when incorrect situations are discovered. The conclusion is that the most important aim in radiation protection should not be a very sophisticated dosimetry, but a reduction of exposures down to levels where simple survey becomes sufficient.
