A possible continuum detection of Comet 1973 XII Kohoutek at the wavelength of 4.1 mm

  • 1. Tokyo Univ., Mitaka (Japan). Tokyo Astronomical Observatory

Description

4.1 mm continuum radiation of Comet 1973 XII Kohoutek has been possibly detected. Observations were made for 8 days around the perihelion passage of the comet in December 1973. The average flux density for the 8 days of observations was estimated as (2.0+-1.0) x 10-26 w m-2Hz-1. A model of the emitting source is briefly discussed. (author)
