High pressure x-ray diffraction and electrical resistivity studies of bismuth germanate (Bi4Ge3O12)

Description

High pressure x-ray diffraction studies of bismuth germanate has been carried out up to 14 GPa using Fourme's pneumatic pressure Diamond Anvil Cell. The volume of the sample decreases with increase of pressure up to 14 GPa and no phase transformation has been observed. High pressure electrical resistivity studies were carried out using Bridgman opposed anvil apparatus at room temperature. The resistivity of the bismuth germanate is increasing with increase of pressure and also there is no transition up to 11 GPa. (author)
