National energy-climate plan France - Update June 2024
Description
This update of France's integrated national energy and climate plan is based on three national planning and governance documents on energy and climate, currently under revision. The construction of these strategies is a planning exercise aimed at setting, among the various possible pathways and despite uncertainties, an energy and climate target scenario based on a set of measures and assumptions, intended to guide collective action. This process is iterative and continuously improving. Since 2021, the Government has focused on the 2030 horizon of the National Low Carbon Strategy (SNBC), which is an important step in putting France on the right path towards achieving carbon neutrality in 2050. Work is ongoing until 2050. Draft national programming and governance documents on energy and climate will be subject to public consultation in the coming months. This update reflects, by date, the targets that France sets itself up to 2030 for each sector, and up to 2035 for the energy sector. Trajectories beyond these time horizons will be updated once the national documents have been formally adopted, for example in the context of the biennial progress report

La presente mise a jour du plan national integre energie-climat de la France est fondee sur trois documents nationaux de programmation et de gouvernance sur l'energie et le climat, actuellement en cours de revision. La construction de ces strategies est un exercice de planification qui vise a fixer, parmi les differentes trajectoires possibles et malgre les incertitudes, un scenario-cible energetique et climatique fonde sur un ensemble de mesures et d'hypotheses, destine a guider l'action collective. Ce processus est iteratif et en amelioration continue. Depuis 2021, le Gouvernement a mis l'accent sur l'horizon 2030 de la Strategie nationale bas carbone (SNBC) qui est un jalon important pour placer la France sur la bonne trajectoire en vue d'atteindre la neutralite carbone en 2050. A date, les travaux jusqu'a l'horizon 2050 se poursuivent. Les projets de documents nationaux de programmation et de gouvernance sur l'energie et le climat seront soumis a consultation publique dans les prochains mois. La presente mise a jour traduit, a date, les objectifs que la France se fixe jusqu'en 2030 pour chaque secteur, et jusqu'en 2035 pour le secteur energetique. Les trajectoires au-dela de ces horizons temporels seront actualisees une fois les documents nationaux officiellement adoptes, par exemple dans le cadre du rapport biennal d'avancement
