French people and photovoltaic panel recycling - Third edition, March 2024
Description
French people place the environment in the top 5 issues that matter most to them (37%, 5. position out of 16 dimensions tested). Concerned about this issue, they are informing themselves accordingly, and knowledge of the recyclability of photovoltaic panels is on the rise. As was the case last year, eight out of ten interviewees know that photovoltaic panels produce green electricity, and three out of four French people confirm that panels are recyclable (78%, +5 points compared to 2023). Nearly six out of ten interviewees rightly claim that they can be reused to give them a second life (57%, stable). Whereas in 2023, 83% of French people reported a lack of information on how to recycle panels, this figure has fallen in 2024: the figure is now 78%, an encouraging improvement. Increased awareness of the recyclability of photovoltaic panels is helping to reduce the number of people who do not want to install them: this year, only 19% of French people who do not have a photovoltaic panel have decided not to install one, because of a preconceived idea about the non-recyclable nature of panels - 6 points less than last year. Managing the end-of-life of photovoltaic panels is a key issue for promoters of energy self-consumption. Nearly two-thirds of those interviewed consider it worthwhile installing panels if, and only if, they can be recycled (64%)
