Mitigation of fundamental mode contamination by metric matrix technique [neutron transport equation solution]
Description
One of the most inexpensive approaches to assessing the effect on the accuracy of reactor design calculations of nuclear data uncertainties, is the sensitivity analysis method. Sensitivity study using generalized perturbation theory is of interest, but it involves the solution of an inhomogeneous transport equation with a singular operator. A unique solution to such an inhomogeneous equation may not be easily obtained due to fundamental mode contamination. In this paper we propose a scheme where the effect of fundamental mode contamination can be mitigated through a novel iterative technique. (author)
