Description

Recently, we have defined the conditions under which proton tracks can be revealed in Kodak CN-85 track detector by electrochemical etching and have established the first basic characteristics of this detector for use as a personal neutron dosemeter. New results obtained are presented. First, a more detailed study of the energy dependence of the dosemeter was carried out. The results are also analysed for the neutron spectra frequently found in operational neutron dosimetry. The linearity of dosemeter response was also studied and was found to be satisfactory up to a dose equivalent of about several hundred mSv. Substantial effort was devoted to practical problems of operational use (development of apparatus for multidetector etching, analysis of automatic counting possibilities, etc.). The results are discussed and analysed. (author)
