Guideline for personal monitoring regarding internal exposure

Description

Already 5 years have elapsed since the new recommendation of ICRP was published in 1977. In this Publication 26 and subsequent Publication 30, the method of evaluating internal exposure dose and the way of thinking on its control were largely different from those in the past, and the personal monitoring regarding internal exposure following the contents of the new recommendation has been investigated in various fields. The sub-committee on the control of internal exposure dose was established in June, 1981, in Japan Health Physics Society for the purpose of examining the concrete methods of measurement, evaluation and record regarding the control of internal exposure dose, based on the introduction of the new recommendation of ICRP into the national laws, and making the guideline useful in nuclear facilities. The expert subcommittee started the concrete investigation in September, 1981, and presented the interim report in March, 1982. This Monitoring Guideline is intended to describe the contents covering the whole personal monitoring regarding internal exposure, based on the examination described in the interim report. It shows the monitoring program from the selection of subjects to the recording and report and the method of evaluating the intake and dose equivalent for those in charge of internal exposure control.
