The critical radius for void nucleation in neutron-irradiated ferritic alloy, HT-9
Description
Experimental measurements of cavity formation in HT-9 following irradiation to 39 dpa at 300, 400, 500 and 6000C are used as a basis for examining the critical radius for void nucleation model as applied to ferritic alloys. Calculations demonstrate that the value for critical radius following irradiation at 4000C can be predicted, that values for critical radius at 500 and 6000C are in agreement with experiment but that values for critical radius at 3000C are below experimental values. Calculations are compared with those on a ferritic alloy following ion bombardment. Possible explanations are suggested
