Study on burden formulation for pyrolysing and incinerating spent TBP/OK
Description
During the process of pyrolysis and incineration of radioactive spent TBP/OK (tributyl phosphate/kerosene), TBP is decomposed in the reactor into P2O5,H3PO4 and so on, which are seriously corrosive. In order to convert these corrosive materials into undissolvable calcium phosphate or calcium pyrophosphate and separate them from the reactor in the form of solid, Ca(OH)2 powders are added to the burden. With the addition of suitable emulsifier (surfactant), the TBP/OK-H2O system is emulsified and homogeneously mixed with Ca(OH)2 powders to form a stable burden, which can be kept for 72 hours without phase separation. The burden can be transported via pipe lines by pump. Furthermore, the stability and fluidity of the burden can be adjusted for the complete pyrolysis and incineration
