Description
The German Federal Government has formulated a national reduction target, which, by the year 2005, provides for a reduction of CO2 emissions by 25 to 30% compared with the reference year 1987. A significant contribution to the attainment of this reduction target is expected from the German electricity industry. This paper discusses the potential for CO2 reduction in the German electricity industry on the basis of an analysis using a model. Complementary to this, the paper reports on the status and execution of such measures within individual German electricity supply undertakings. (orig.)
