Description
The asymptotic behavior of the structure functions and is studied in a quark-parton model. It is shown that the structure functions have the expected Regge behavior. The calculated Regge residues agree well with those obtained from pion-nucleon cross sections by an extrapolation in Q² via a weak form of generalized scaling. The total photoabsorption cross section is also reproduced in this scheme, once the over-all scale is fixed.
