Survey of the methods of MHD analysis of magnetic islands
Description
This work explains the structure, the importance of, and the MHD analysis of tearing modes. The reduced MHD equations are shown to offer the ability to follow the time evolution of tearing modes, but at a high cost in computer resources. The quasilinear equations are shown to have the ability to model more complex geometric situations, but at the expense of the time dependence of the equations. The derivation of both methods are outlined
