Description
A new middle resolution (MR) type collimator system was developed in which 1,850 MBq (50 mCi) of Xe-133 is available for a single rCBF SPECT scanning in the practical setting. In a sensitivity evaluation with 20 cmφ cylindrical pool phantom filled with 3.7 MBq (0.1 mCi) of Tc-99m solution, the MR type collimator was found to have a sensitivity of 21.5 kcps/μCi/ml, which was 63% of the sensitivity in the high sensitivity type collimator. When spatial resolution of the MR collimator was evaluated in the mode of dynamic SPECT using Xe-133 line source in 20 cmφ cylindrical phantom, FWHM was 16.7 mm by 2-rotation method and 13.6 mm by 4-rotation method. The present MR collimator system markedly improved the image quality of rCBF SPECT by Xe-133 inhalation method. (N.K.)
