Lattice dynamics in CeB6 studied by neutron-scattering and specific-heat measurements
- 1. Tohoku Univ., Sendai (Japan). Dept. of Physics
Description
Lattice dynamics of CeB6 has been studied by an inelastic neutron scattering experiment. The acoustic and optical modes of dispersion curves are measured in the high symmetry directions of the crystal by the triple-axis spectrometers. Flat low-frequency Ce-modes are similar as in LaB6 but about 1 meV lower in energy than those in LaB6. Those little differences of the flat modes between CeB6 and LaB6 explain the so-called magnetic specific heat anomaly at around 40 K in CeB6 reported previously. (author)
