Simulated populations of asymptotic giant branch of globular clusters in the Magellanic clouds

  • 1. AN Latvijskoj SSR, Riga. Radioastrofizicheskaya Observatoriya

Description

Smulated populations of the Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) ir clusters of different age are obtained for different laws of mass loss on the AGB stage and for different initial chemical compositions. The results are compared with the observations of two clusters in the Magellanic Clouds. These are two classes of stars on the AGB: early-AGB stars on the stage before thermal flares and stars on the thermal-flare stage. Position of stars of these two classes on the HR diagram differ by luminisity and effective temperatures. Theoretical numbers of M and C stars in the clusters are presented for different ages, mass loss laws and initial chemical compositions
