Deformation effects in quasielastic reactions of heavy ions near the Coulomb barrier
Description
The effect of static deformation on the elastic, inelastic and fusion reactions in the collision of heavy ions is reviewed. The predictions of the adiabatic model on the quasielastic (elastic+inelastic) cross-sections and on the tensor analysing powers in the case of scattering of polarised nuclei are discussed.
