Description

The Nuclear Power Plants Authority of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy in Egypt embarked on a localization program for both nuclear and fossil power plants that started in February 1989. The program was carried out with the support of a consortium of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) and Bechtel. The program aims to formulate implementation plans for optimum local supplies for power plants in Egypt. The paper describes the efforts completed under this program. Three major projects were undertaken, Fuel Technology, Heavy Water Technology and Equipment. (Author)
