Protective effects of elemene on mice after fractionated γ-irradiation

  • 1. Suzhou Medical College (China). Dept. of Medical Radiobiology

Description

The transformation of spleen lymphocytes after fractionated γ-irradiation was studied by method of 3H-TdR incorporation, and the SOD activity and LPO content in brain, lung, liver and spleen were measured, and the effects of elemene on immunity and oxidative damage were investigated. The results indicated that elemene could enhance radiation resistance of T.B lymphocytes (P<0.05), increase SOD activity in spleen, lung and liver (P<0.01 and P<0.05) and decrease LPO content in spleen (P<0.01). The formation of mechanism of protection may be due to scavenging free radical and relieving damage of lymphocytes
