Description
In a spherical tokamak QUEST, an atomic hydrogen probe system using palladium-copper (PdCu) membrane has been installed. In order to evaluate the basic performance of permeation probe, the recombination coefficients and the diffusion coefficients of deuterium in PdCu was investigated using nuclear reaction analysis (NRA) and permeation techniques. The diffusion coefficient D was determined as 2.9x10-4exp(-0.035eV/kT) cm2/s. The recombination coefficient on the plasma facing side Ku was expressed as 1.87x10-18exp(-0.44eV/kT) cm4/s. The recombination coefficient on the vacuum side Kd was consistent with Ku below 483 K while it was expressed as 4.16x10-23exp(-0.0063eV/kT) cm4/s above that temperature. (author)
