Coolant compatibility studies. The effect of irradiation on stress corrosion cracking sensitivity of a martensitic steel type 1.4914 MANET 4-complementary studies. Part 2

Description

Prior stress corrosion cracking tests of a high-chromium martensitic steel of type 1.4914, referred to as MANET, did not show any irradiation assisted stress corrosion cracking (IASCC). Three-point bend specimens stressed to 95% of the yield strength were used. They were manufactured from coupons previously exposed in a high pressure water loop in the Studsvik R2 reactor. Complementary stress corrosion testing of two irradiated notched three-point bend specimens has been performed. Higher stresses compared to previous experiments were used. However, the specimens have not revealed any signs of IASCC. 5 refs, 4 figs, 4 tabs
