Measurement of parity nonconservation in the proton-proton total cross section at 800 MeV
Description
A measurement of parity nonconservation in the scattering of 800 MeV (1.5 GeV/c) polarized protons from an unpolarized liquid hydrogen target is reported. The experiment was a transmission measurement. Corrections to the measured transmission were made for contributions from systematic changes in beam properties. The result for the longitudinal asymmetry in the total cross section is A/sub L/ = (2.4 +/- 1.1) x 10-7
