Since years physicists developed ever more powerful lasers, by means of which they want to bring tiny hydrogen pellets to implosion and to get by such a way energy from nuclear fusion. The author works at the world-wide largest laser, the national Ignition Facility in California, and reports about status and expectations of this development.
