Studies on the radiation chemistry of atmospheric gas-phase reactions
- 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Air Monitoring Section
Description
Controlled experiments carried out using a simulated atmosphere in a reaction vessel show that α- and γ- radiations enhance the rate of the conversion of SO2 into aerosols. The involvement of OH and HO2 radicals and also the probable role of Criegee intermediate of the ozone-olefin reactions in the radiation chemistry of the SO2 gas-phase oxidation are discussed in this paper.
