Electric conductivity of MeBiCl4 and Me3BiCl6 (Me - Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs) in solid and molten states
Description
ELectric conductivity of salt melts has been measured with the aid of the bridge of aternating current of acoustic frequencies at 1000 Hz up to temperatures by 30-40 deg higher than melting point. In the case of cesium tetrachlorobismutate electric conductivity increases smoothly to 0.048 ohm-1cm-1 until temperature attains 196 deg C corresponding to polymorphic trasformation temperature. On polymorphic transformation the conductivity changes jump-wise. Prior to melting point (356 deg) it equals 0.14 ohm-1xcm-1. Cesium hexachlorobismutate electric conductivity has been measured in the temperature range from 490 to 740 deg C. On heating this salt above 490 deg its conductivity increases gradually (0.30 ohm-1xcm-1 at 678 deg) and rises jump-wise with salt transformation into a melted state at 700 deg up to 0.72 ohm-1xcm-1. Activation energy of melt conductivity in the vicinity of the crystallization temperature is 3.72 kcal/mol and decreases sharply with temperature increase attaining 1.56 kcal/mol at 740 deg
